Derbyshire Safety Camera Web Site

Derbyshire Safety Camera Project is run by Derbyshire Police in conjunction with Derbyshire County Council, Derby City Council, Highways Agency, Derbyshire Magistrates Service and the Crown Prosecution Service.

The aim of the site was to provide a great deal of information on the partnership plus up to date locations of safety cameras of many types. In addition there needed to be an educational area to explain the reasons for siting cameras and showing why they were neccessary.

As an organisation backed by local authorities it was important that the site was developed with the accessibility guidelines in mind.

We achieved these aims by developing the site in XHTML and to stricter US guidelines. Where it was neccessary to use graphical elements we used Macromedia Flash technology, in particular for the Active Mapping and a “Speed Challenge” game developed for the site.
