Google Wave: the biggest change to email since email?

For many years we have been used to email. We look at it in Outlook (or whatever software we choose), we might even look at it on the web using webmail, Gmail, Hotmail and the like. We are comfortable with this but what most people don't think about is that email has never changed since it came into being. OK sure there have been a new tweaks such as allowing images and attachments but we are using technology that has remained the same for over 10 years.

But to add to email we now use other tools. Facebook, Twitter, Blogs and more. each of these are seperate and don't talk to each other so many people have to log onto several services to catch up with what is going on... seems backwards doesn't it.

Buried away in Google Towers the geniuses behind Google Maps have been looking at how we communicate and decided to start all over again. We have seen the result and have been amazed, say hello to Google Wave.

Wave is designed to be a ground-up reinvention of the way we communicate and collaborate. Think instant messaging, but with the open platform potential for plugging in Twitter and other methods of communication. At present this is not available to the public but expect to see it very soon.
